Following the latest round of negotiations with the Moscow Mayor, the opposition is not being allowed to hold the "March of Freedom" along a route that takes in Lubyanka Square. The authorities know that the opposition is intending to force its way through to Lubyanka if permission is denied. The uncompromising refusal issued by City Hall proves that this is exactly what the authorities want. Their idea is to provoke actual mass rioting which could provide them with additional arguments against the 6 May prisoners and against the large number of new prisoners who are undoubtedly going to be seized on 15 December in Lubyanka Square if people do attempt to break through. [Read more]
