On 20/3 an unknown assailant splashed Aleksei Navalny with a green liquid in Barnaul. (The New York Times, 20/3)

On 21/3 the Constitutional Court ruled police officers must protect one-person protestors at the sites the protests take place. (RAPSI, 21/3)

On 21/3 Sofia Rusova, a board member of North Caucasus EcoWatch, was detained during a one-person picket in Moscow. (Caucasian Knot, 21/3)

On 21/3 two Ukrainian journalists were held in a police station for about 3 hours with a Russian student beaten for waving a Ukrainian flag. (Human Rights in Ukraine, 22/3; RFE/RL, 21/3)

On 20/3 Sergei Mokhnatkin, jailed for assaulting police during a Moscow protest, was given an additional two years in jail for "disrupting operations of a penitentiary." (RFE/RL, 20/3)

On 21/3 Nikolai Gorokhov, a lawyer representing the family of the late Sergei Magnitsky, suffered serious injuries after falling from his apartment building outside Moscow. (RFE/RL, 22/3)

On 22/3 the ruling of Moscow’s Tverskoi district court entered into force to detain Browder in absentia on charges of embezzlement. (RAPSI, 22/3)

Higher education
On 20/3 an arbitration court revoked the licence of the European University at St. Petersburg. (The Moscow Times, 20/3)

On 22/3, Mikhail Konstantinov, a lecturer at the Siberian Federal University, said he lost his job for screening Navalny’s documentary about corruption. (The Moscow Times, 22/3)

On 20/3 Khasan Zakayev was sentenced to 19 years in prison for assisting in the 2002 Dubrovka theatre attack. Victims said officials should be prosecuted for poor management of the operation. (RFE/RL, 21/3; The Moscow Times, 21/3)

Torture, conditions of detention
On 20/3 investigators said jailed Roscosmos official Vladimir Evdokimov died from a knife wound. (The Guardian, 20/3)

On 21/3 the ECtHR granted €122,300 to 17 prisoners in compensation for poor conditions of detention. (RAPSI, 21/3)

On 24/3 a lawyer for four defendants in the Nemtsov murder case said they had applied to the ECtHR over torture. (RAPSI, 24/3)

North Caucasus
On 23/3 six Russian soldiers were killed and several wounded in a clash with armed militants in Chechnya. Six militants were also reported killed. (BBC, 24/3)
