Human rights activists; lawyers

On 30/6 investigators searched the home of rights activist Magomed Mutsolgov in Ingushetia. (RFE/RL, 30/6)

On 4/7 the Prosecutor General’s Office ordered the Prosecutor of Chechnya to review the investigation into Oyub Titiev, charged with illegal possession of drugs. (RAPSI, 4/7)

Freedom of expression

Ukraine / Crimea

On 30/6 lawyer Emil Kurbedinov condemned the incarceration in a psychiatric clinic of Crimean Tatar civic journalist Nariman Memedeminov. (Human Rights in Ukraine, 5/7)

Council of Europe

On 4/7 the MFA said there are no grounds for renewing Russia’s contributions to the Council of Europe as the powers of the Russian parliamentarians have not been restored. (TASS, 4/7)
