The Qualification Board of Judges of Lipetsk region will look into the court ruling, communicated by human rights defenders to the president, and leading to his indignation, says the Chair of the Board of Judges, Nikolai Zakharov, Tass has reported. According to him, the board will study legal materials and explanations from all those involved, the outcome being an assessment of of the judge’s actions.

The matter relates to the ruling of Judge Gevorkyan in the case of local businessman, Vasily Urivaeva, and deputy chairman of Lipetsk regional court, Aleksandr Besedin, which was shown to Putin at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.

The court document said that a citizen had committed crime “by writing a statement to the Lipetsk regional prosecutor,” writes Novaya Gazeta.

“When I look at such a thing, my hair simply stands on end. What is this? Have you gone mad?” said President Putin. “I don’t know about bias, but there are certainly questions to be asked as to whether the judge is well qualified.”
