On 2 December 2015 Dmitry Buchenkov was detained in Moscow and his apartment was searched on the grounds that he is a new suspect in the 2012 Bolotnaya Square case. Subsequently Moscow’s Basmanny disctrict court remanded Dmitry Buchenkov in custody until 2 February 2016. OVDINFO reports that Buchenkov, who is an activist well-known in anarchist circles, was not present at the demonstration on Bolotnaya Square on 6 May 2012.

Amnesty International has said of the Bolotnaya Square prosecutions: “What happened on Bolotnaya Square on 6 May 2012 was not the quelling of a riot, but the crushing of a protest. The Bolotnaya trial has not exposed orchestrated violence, but rather a criminal justice system that is entirely malleable to the dictates of its political masters.”
