Person of the Week: Roman Milchenko

Roman Milchenko, an environmental activist from Rostov-on-Don, has filed a complaint alleging he was assaulted by police officers near his home in the city on 10 October 2015. According to the police, Roman Milchenko and his brother attacked the police officers, for which they face prosecution. Caucasian Knot has reported that the police department for Rostov region claims that two police officers were injured by Roman Milchenko, athough they did not need hospitalization. According to Roman Milchenko, Caucasian Knot reports, he and his brother took part in discussions about illegal waste dumps on one of the Internet social networking sites, and on October 10, police officers arrived at his home and assaulted them. Roman Milchenko has also stated that he and his brother intend to continue their environmental activities.
