Prison Colony No. 31 in Komi celebrated its founding under Stalin with a plaque

As The Moscow Times reports, in August this year prison colony No. 31 in Russia’s Komi Republic celebrated the anniversary of its foundation as a Stalinist Gulag in 1937. The plaque installed at the colony reads:

"16 August 1937. In this place construction of the correction colony (Lagpunkt No. 19 'Vodorazdellag - Mikunskaya'). The memorial plaque was put up on 16 August 2016 as a mark of respect and gratitude to those who first built, and to the staff who created, the colony."
