According to Stepan Kiskin of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in Crimea, on the night of 5-6 March unidentified persons sprayed the word 'Executioner' ('Палач') on a memorial to Iosif Stalin located on the wall of the CPRF's headquarters in Simferopol. In a statement which he also published on Twitter, Kiskin appealled to the local FSB and prosecutors to find those responsible prevent future incidents of this kind. RFE/RL quotes Kiskin as stating: 'It is impermissible that vandals should treat the patriotic history of our Fatherland in such an obscene manner, desecrating the memorial plaque on which the generalissimus of the Great Victory is depicted.'
