'Following revelations that he had been tortured in Segezha prison colony, prisoner of conscience Ildar Dadin was moved to a new prison colony. On 6 January his family were informed that he is now in Prison Colony 5 in the Altai district of Southern Siberia. Between 5 December and 6 January neither his wife nor his lawyer were informed about his whereabouts. [...] Ildar Dadin is a prisoner of conscience. He was first arrested on 15 January 2015, and is serving two and a half years for participating in four street actions in 2014, all of which were peaceful. He is the first person in Russia to be sentenced under Article 212.1, which effectively criminalizes “unauthorised” peaceful demonstrations by making it a crime to violate Russia’s highly restrictive Law on Public Assemblies more than twice in 180 days. We will continue to campaign for his release and to organize solidarity letters in his support.'
